Datsun 140j (gl) workshop manual needed purchase or loan

I have a very well looked after 140j and i need to adjust the tappet clearance as it is ticking. Really need a copy of the Nissan datsun 140j 1973 workshop manual if anyone is selling one / would loan me one to copy / or even tell me the tappet clearance in the manual.

I just looked up 140j in my manual ( which has really detailed information but shit when it comes to make/model )

Because you have not specified a motor or chassis I just went from details provided as best I could on the manual

Yeah great point, i went under the hood c/# 3934 i assume thats the chasis number seems rather short though.

its the 1400cc engine i believe 1428cc to be exact

Post up some photos of your 140J
I left my manual at work. I'll try remember tomorrow to have a look for it and confirm the above measurements.
A violet is just another name for the 140J just depends on where you live in the world.

Oh i thought my version the 140j gl 1973 and the violet's were different as i have been searching for a workshop manual and there is one for my car another specifically for the voilet, but they do both say 140j.

Thats a handy manual i have a couple of those. Well worth it get that and it will give you all the tune up info you need.
The GL is the top spec 140J it came with wood trim interior a center console (same as 160J) blue tint glass. Possibly some other things but i think thats it off top of my head and different badges.

The engines are the same across the 140J range, Mine had a really nice electric choke started perfectly and idled straight from cold perfect every time. Not like the twin SUs on my 160J.

Yeah thats the one it has wood trim.

That manual i needed had already sold. would you be interested in selling me one of your
manuals? i need the tappet clearance but would be great to get a copy to do some other
tune ups etc.

I'll see if i can find it they come up on trademe all the time.
I forgot to double check those clearances but im willing to bet that you will be safe to go with the above. There isn't really anything special about any of the old L series engines.
