So I have now fitted up my O2 sensor, but have to commission it before I get O2 feed back to the ECU.
New proper fuel rail mounts welded in between injectors - stoked how these worked out, and good solid mounting achieved
New Alloy radiator fitted.
So I installed the manifold & flows this morning and plumbed up the radiator, and installed my new custom throttle cable, rolled it out of the garage and topped up fuel, kicked it in the guts and away she went
Even held idle at about 800 rpm. still very rough in the tune, and need to get my O2 sensor working so I can do some preliminary tuning. hooked up my new coolant temp sensor unit too, but forgot to test signal when I was running it up.

Re: Kitchs 1200 Coupe - "Woo-hoo I have idle!!!"
Not much been happening on the coupe as late, but working on the 120Y in the garage
next to the coupe, I started to pine the coupe, and the promise is has to me of
singing sweet tunes on those ITB's......
And after a big disappointment after trying to fire it up at weekend for Mint16 & Kev
and it barely firing let alone idling or revving, I have spent a few hours on the net
researching Megasquirt configuration and tuning information, I found that I had
quite a few settings a bit incorrect, and have learnt quite a bit more in the process,
its all new to me, and quite a steep learning curve.
I am not looking to tune all the Fuel rates or A/R ratios at this point in time, nor start
up the on board ECU driven wasted spark coil ignition setup, I just want stable startup
& rough running, to know its ready for fine tuning and testing, when the car is back
together after painting - thats when all the real tedious fine tuning will happen.
So I started up last night, after adjusting quite a few setting, and still no good
Tonight I went back to basics, checked spark - which it had, then I pulled out plugs &
they were dripping wet with fuel & residue (from over fueling and the likes) put
another old set of plugs in that I found, and away she went, something wrong with
my cranking settings as takes ages to fire, and takes a wee while holding starter
motor on blipping the throttle before the engine running really "takes", but once it
has, its away into smooth-ish idle (all be it at elevated rpm) and is quite responsive
in the revving, but it is still over-fueling, as backfires at higer revs, and puts rich
blackish smoke out the exhaust. I adjusted my dizzy to run about 8° advance at
(elevated) idle speed. I might get brave at the weekend and test my new ignition.
Anyways - she is starting to make the right noises, a more successful vid here:

I really love the really really really crisp snappy note it makes.
You have done amazingly well to get it to run at all with no WB02 connected up, I couldn't live without mine.
Something to watch out for, if your plugs have been sopping wet and you have been doing lots of cracking check your oil isn't full of fuel
You probably have checked/have it under control but happened to me pretty epic when i make a cockup in the cold start table.

Thanks James, never thought of that - do I just sniff my dipstick or what to check?
does unburnt fuel get up past the valves and into the head oil galleries or something and get contaminated that way?

It can get past the rings, especially on the fresh motor that hasn't been run in. but yeah give the oil a decent smell and you will know right away, a little bit won't do much but if it really smells like fuel then you just drop the oil and put new stuff in.Kitch wrote:Thanks James, never thought of that - do I just sniff my dipstick or what to check?
