Re VINing / Certification

Post by Jabo »

I'm just looking for some advice I'm thinking of buying my mates 1200 sedan its has a lot of rust but not unsaveable I could do the rust repairs myself so it would only cost me time. It currently has no engine or box in it so I would be looking to do a repower of some description. Its has dead reg so I'm asking for the opinion of people who have been through the process would I be better off to do the rust repairs and put a factory A12 back in get it VINed then look and mods etc or should I set it up with what ever engine etc I want and get it certed and VINed at the sametime

Cheers in advance

I would recommend going for a re vin with the car as stock as possible.
Then mod it after and go for cert

I agree with Dan.
Also Jasper, you want to either carry out ALL your rust repairs in such a way that they're undetectable, or else talk to a good repair certifiyer. I've heard a couple of horror stories about people who've had all kinds of nightmares getting repair cert after the fact. (I'm sure others will chime in)

Cheers guys I had a feeling original would be the way to go. As for hiding all the rust repairs that would basically require me to get it a full panel and paint after the repairs because there is ALOT!! so I guess I better factor that into my decision
