IS the keeper on #4 different, it isn't like the valve is stretched up from the photo because it doesn't seem to stick out the top like the rest. Wow, huge ports, shame the gasket wasn't matched! Going well, love your enthusiasm.

Yeah it's a real bugger about all problems, but once it's done right it should be mint. I think #4 v/v has just slipped the spring retainer up and the hole in the port will be fixed and will port match gasket this time.
More great news, just got the phone call my new Work Equips 03's have arrived early. So hope to have them fitted Friday. I love it when a plan comes together.

Re: Christmas Pilgrimage to the Mainland.
Had a bad day yesterday, everything went wrong. DAMIT!
1- Pistons are F%@k'd. I've never seen pistons like it, all of them had more cracks than the local netball team.
2- Deadline to complete out the window for next week. That I can live with, but the hard part will be driving down to the wedding in the girlfriends shit box.
3- New wheels turn up, I open the box to find them to be wrong, pass the gun. So back to Japan they go. Looks like we will be waiting till after Christmas for those. Bright side, still can roll on the Simmons.
Dropped the engine off to reconditioners to get the engine done correctly. Pricing up some forged piston now, If they are too $$$ I will have to put cast pistons in. Good news is the crank is mint and the oil gallerys have been enlarged.

I've never seen an A series piton with valve releifs before. They might have been milled in to suit a big cam. If you're reusing the cam that was in the motor, better check that the new pistons dont hit the valves.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

You are so right Bartman, I have a stage 5 cam (milder cam) that will be going into rebuilt engine. Just waiting on pistons from Ozzy.

Re: Christmas Pilgrimage to the Mainland.
Quick update, pistons have arrived from oz, but the engine reconditioner has now gone on leave. Hope to find out more details tomorrow. He did say that the engine had the same specs as a mini stock engine. I guess that would explain the wild porting in the head, race cam and the pistons machine matched to valves.
Time is ticking and I still have alot to do before we head off on the big trip.

Ministock engines are almost stock.
Are you sure he didn't mean minisprint? There's guys in Minisprint (or so I'm told) with $15K in their engines.
