Hey guys, just scored this little beast!
New shocks/springs in the front, everything is there, Including the original tauna cover!
I've got the last W.O.F sheet etc as well.
Gonna be a fun lil project, once Annie's back on the road. But, I will be getting into killing the rust when I've got the free time from working on Annie, because something's just can't be left too long...
More pic's to come soon don't you worry
I picked her up last night for $1600, Rego on hold, rust in the sill's and other usual spots (With one new sill supplied)Skutaman's 81' Sportstar

Looks honest. You should call your other car Arnie instead of Annie.

I've always had female names for my cars..crustywhip wrote:Looks honest. You should call your other car Arnie instead of Annie.
I had the long hot task of moving all my stored stuff into the new bigger shed to house the lil beast! Including all of the SSS coupe' parts (Front & rear sub-frame's, motor etc...) on my own Grrr...
Anyway, Onto the good stuff!...
The old owner told me that it was taken off the road due to the rust, brakes not going (Foot or hand) (Hand break is a go now) horn and RH low beam light out.
The interior is pretty tidy, just the usual cracked dash, kick panels.. Judging by the typical 'inconsistent' car jam report its most likely done 255 tho) New shocks and springs (Judging by the part # there lowering springs) The little heart doesn't seem too leaky, considering the Km's on the clock Fully set of 12' Cheviot's (With legal rubber all round And the not so good..
This is the rear of the drivers side sill Passengers side... Rear end Rear RH quarter panel Dent in roof Typical base of pillar Corner of the firewall Front of the guards But not surprisingly I've already got the deck packed full of Datsun goodies!
(Most of which are off the coupe, which are still up for grabs!) Anyway, what do you think guys?
Good score?
I'm stoked, I've loved the shape of these for years.

Re: Skutaman's 81' Sportstar
The old owner drop the Chassis tag off today..
I'm getting his number in the next couple of days.
He makes them for all manner of old school vehicles (Mainly muscle) with printed tags, like ours, and then presses the original chassis number into them.
What do you think?
How legit is it?
As you can see it's 'well loved' I have been told about a guy in Wakefield (south of nelson) who remakes them (Legitimately)I'm getting his number in the next couple of days.

Re: Skutaman's 81' Sportstar
I have had chassis plates remade for 1200 cars & utes before
As long as you are stamping original numbers on them, and they are for a restoration
not some dodgey car conversion you should be sweet, I have sold maybe 30 odd
tags into NZ and Australia, and not heard of any problems.
A reproduced item, at least is legiable, where as a lot of original ones, you can't read
however I would be keeping the old one as 'proof' if you can.
I have seen modified ones, that have the engine details changed to match up
with repower (ie CA engine numbers on a B110) but think this then becomes a form
of customised aesthetic detail, rather than a legal ID plate
this is my GB120 plates I have

the only readable part it the stamped numbers.. and car jam only comes up with the stamped numbers.
Do you sell them?

Re: Skutaman's 81' Sportstar
GB120 is the code for sportstar ute, up until mid eighty's models as i understand.
there is a small error on the plate, with the fact the wheelbase is incorrect, as when
I modified the 110 sedan/coupe plate, I forgot to extend the wheel base which is slightly longer on the ute I believe
I just had a dig round, and found I have two left, and one is owed to a mate, so you are in luck.
They are real good quality, only problem I dont have access to the stamps required to stamp chassis
and engine number anymore (my previous workplace had a set of stamps I used) so you
will have to sort that out yourself.
PM me if you are keen, and we can sort out payment and delivery
