Lowering r30 skyline

Post by Evil13 »

Does anyone know how to lower a r30skyline if ànything else bolts in?
It's already quite hard riding and don't want to make it harder also I had lowering springs in my last one and it wasn't very low

A guy up North has lowered springs that came from Japan in his and I reckon it looks pretty good but you need to shorten the shocks to keep them captive. I had Cobras in mine and they were possibly higher than stock.

S13 coilovers will bolt in with a little bit of work (not much). You'd need to change the top hats in the rear or redrill the strut towers. The front is pretty much bolt in apart from the ball joint and tie rod ends which might have a different taper. The ball joint is easy enough to fix, they aren't removeable from the arm but in the Z (using R30 lower arms) I had HBI make up some new ball joints with the S14 taper on them so they could easily do the same but with an S13 taper.

Putting S13 hubs in the front will probably make the track width wider.

Yea I think had shortened Cobras springs and shortened rear shocks. I just don't want a hard ride with baby on the way. Silvia's already got suspension like a gokart

you can use r32 front shocks in the rear with the r30 top hats,(about 100mm lower) i used r33 springs on them as they are a little bit stiffer. they ride well even for a baby as im in the same boat (baby on the way), but the fronts arent so easy s13 stuff is the best way to lower it but s13 front shocks dont clear the strut tower so adjustables are the only way and theyre no good for a baby. lowering springs on r30 struts dont go very low but have a way better ride than adjustables so i would go with them.if the budget allows you could get platform adjusters welded to your struts which is easier than s13 conversion.(s13 requires brakes ,knuckle and adjustable shocks and still dont bolt on).
