the colour is "Sun bright red" colour #932
came out on coupes only as I understand 1971-1973
Dupont 31018
PPG 71917

these codes are old lead based Alkyds and hard to work out what modern equiv is....

Hi Kitch, looking good. Have you tried Standox paint systems? They specialize in classic vehicle colours so should be able to match the colour your after. I know RJP are retailers up here but not sure who else sorry. Hope this helps :)

My mate has had some luck with Sikkens
they have a very comprehensive database, and had a listing for the original Datsun Red #932
My mate has viewed reference swatch, and we have test panel being painted today for us.
we will then match to this with Dupont system tomorrow, all going well.

So got a late night message from my mate, after a few minor teething problems
I now have (finally) some colour on the coupe.... after 5 years in primered state.
Quite a milestone, and I am fizzed, a lot of hard work & $ to get this car to this
point. now feeling like this car may actually see the road in 2013!!!
Got a Xmas party at my mates tonight, I probably wont socialise, just stand there
chopping beers and staring at my engine bay!!!!
