TBag - '72 1200 build

Post by Tony.buchler »

A few weeks a go I bought this car from
Upper Hutt.
The previous owner is a mechanic and was
Gearing it up to run a rotory but decided
To stick with the A12.
The result was a fully balanced engine bored
to 1220 with a Lightened flywheel, ported
Head, teiple row radiator with thermo fans,
lumpy cam running a 9.5:1 compression
Ratio. It currently has Honda CB900 carbs on
It but they are being replaced shortly.
A diff and a brake booster from a carona have
Been shoe-horned into the car. It has had mazda
626 struts and discs put in with shortened
Honda prelude shocks. The strut towers have
Been double plated .

Fair to say I have a bit of work ahead of me but
It shouldn't take too long.

Looks like a sweet project, may I ask why you're not keeping the bike carbs?

The carbs keep flooding the cylinders at idol. Bike carbs aren't designed to run well at such low rpm, perhaps on a race car where the revs are constantly up it would be ok? But I don't like the idea of having something there which isn't meant to be used lol
I'll post pics of the struts later on ;)
