Tekapo........ Has hot pools, ice skating and a pretty good snow tube slide thing going on($15 for an hour). Looked pretty good when I was up there acouple of weeks ago...

At some point, I'd be dead keen to camp out down at Haydens in the summer if that was still an option. (I'm sure Hayden knows some back country roads where we can play)
At this point, I doubt my car will be ready for any cruises before Akoroa. Tekapo would be cool.

Or maybe do a hardcore mission. Go down the east coast, inland to queenstown, then back up the west coast, and home through one of the passes.

Was thinking along those lines the other day but going the other way. My brother does a run on bikes that is a 1000k day. leaves chch and goes to the coast up to nelson across to blenheim then back to chch. Hell mish but would be a good weekend run maybe..................................so many possibilities

that would be good up that way, some very nice roads. but im not too sure that would be possible in a day. too many pubs and not enough horsepower in our cars to keep up a good average speed
