Datsun 1600 S13 front suspension swap??

Post by gingofthesouth »

Does anybody have any info on modifications needed to be able to run s13 struts in the FRONT of a Datsun 1600??

I am going to buy a set of S13 coil overs to fit the the rears, but what to do with the fronts?

Buy the strut setup that dan brought of MRP tempted to buy a set myself, I'd be interested in the rear s13 coil over length I've brought some Honda ones and remade the top hats to suit 1600 fit sweet but wound all the way down I'm about 30 mm off tucking a 15

Do you want to swap to the whole S13 style front strut, brakes etc or just fit coilovers easily? If you want the S13 whole setup you need the control arms and hubs as well as they mount in a totally different way. This will also widen your front track significantly.

If you just want to use S13 coilovers because they're cheap and common then you want to buy some body adjustable ones and unscrew them from the S13 hub mount. Then you cut the strut tube off your 510 hub and get threaded sleeves to suit welded on.

Not a 510, but here's a link to a guy's thread where he did it on a Celica Supra:

And here's a nice thread on how to get S13 rears fitted to a 510

That thread for the rears is what I have had my eye on.

For the fronts, that other link is cool idea, I will look into it.
Thanks for the info peoples. I appreciate it.
