the balloon tyre look is so under rated. You gotta love that low cost motoring!

Re: Brocky41's Half Daily R30 Diseasel Wagon
Still be keen on that rocker cover dude
Also tried the LD28 swap - turns out the 4 cyl and 6 cyl bodies have different gearbox mounts in the shell ( further foward for 4 cyl)
Found this out when i pulled the engine and box out over xmas - i wasnt going to run a 15cm long C bracket to the gearbox from the original mounts - so it all went back in
So if it was a petrol 6 the LD28 would have gone straight in soooooooooooooooooooo this one could fit an FJ20et in no drama. Can anyone say DR30 Wagon - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm there is one in the shed.
While it was out i did the diesel pump belt, tensioner and front crank seal which has stopped the oil leak and is now running well again.
Thanks to DJZ for the puller and to john (broke) for the use of his time etc - at least ive learnt how the diesel pumps work now.
Will throw the LD28 into the 240C wagon with the Turbo manifold and rockercover on for max turbo diesel blackness and revin. When thats done ill probably sell this as no need for two big wagons.
But for now its trucking on good.

Re: Brocky41's Half Daily R30 Diseasel Wagon
So the WOF ran out and i smashed a rear taillight so yet again time to get some work done on this thing.
Its so cheap to run - but with high kms it works out about the same as a petrol, cos i have to keep replacing stuff but hey its rare and it gets a few looks lol
so out with the old
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
and have brought some new (over the last 2 months)...
Lower Control Arms (with ball joints)
Outer Tie Rod Ends ($5+each at appco)
Castor rod bushes - these were so haddit the rod had worn right through the steel sleeve
Sway bar mount bushes
Swaybar Link Rod bushes and washers
Driveshaft Centre Bearing
Just got to wait on the new Rotors and pads aswell as Front Wheel Bearings.
Ive so far done one tie rod end and bolted up the new Arms - Just got the new ball joint splitter today as the fork was hopeless.
I also parted out a Hatch wagon - that was originally L20et but had had a diesel in it. Scored all the interior which is the red seat you can see in the first pic

Hey dude can remember i thing around $80 for the tensioner and belt.
Heres some of the parts i have replaced - if anyone wants those discs you could possibly get a grind out of them or will be good for mocking up - will be scrapped next saturday.
you can see the wear on the castor rod Sleeves
Taillight has been repaired Amazingly - Thanks to the guys at Autolights CHCH - i thought this was a gonner.
Catch you later broken bits

Re: Brocky41's Half Daily R30 Diseasel Wagon
So i also replaced the Rear wheel bearings as they were shot - so bad infact that my diesel kms per litre has increased quite substantially lol
Next on the list is another oil change as shes up to 310kms now too.
As i want this to look cool i have dropped tyre sizes from 205/70r14 to a 185/60r14 on the same wheels. This will increase the revs at 100kms by heaps but ive found a HF37 (2nd gen H190 3.7 ratio) to replace my HE43 (also secind gen 4.3 ratio).
So this should counter the tyre size and drop the revs. Then will need slamage to remove guard gap.
Heres what ive done with the wheels so far - they are a toyo brand.

George henry and co sell proper autosol Aluminium polish. it has finer abrasive than the chrome polish. I've found the chrome polish falls short of the mirror finish on Aluminuim..
