Yeah they can be a but fussy but according to matt from nistune it they should run the same with a bit better throttle response.

-3AN braided oil line with nice speed flow fittings
Grabbed a T3 oil return and cut the flange of, slotted the bolt holes and using that to reweld the oil drain to the correct angle to suit the new turbo
Clears the manifold flange bolts ok
Fits nicely around the engine mount
so my Downpipe , air filter base & oil drain are out for TIG, should have them back by Friday night

Re: James 85 300zx, JT Vs the Lack of space in the engine ba
Successful test fire tonight.
Took a bit to get started as the battery is a bit sad.
*Turbo doesn't make any funny noises and seems good.
*Blow through MAF seems to have been a sucess, no miss fire or stumble above 2000rpm.
*No leaks on the Braided oil line or fittings, and a good supply/drain from the turbo.
Idle needs asjusted a tiny bit, could be because its super cold and no idle controls currently
Can't really see anything out in the dark so no pictures. Engine bay is much tidier with a shitload of intake pipe work removed. Much easier to do work in there now.

sweet build man, continuous improvement, awesome how you have just got stuck in and done it all yourself, inspirational stuff.
New turbo looks the nuts, how much power are you shooting for?

I Would like 300+hp at the wheels for now at something like 10psi. I don't really care what the number ends up being as long as it doesn't go all flat over 5000rpm like the old one did.
according to a bunch of turbo maths the cold t3 compressor was about 55% efficient at 12psi, and the new turbo should be around 75% efficient.

Re: James 85 300zx
Assembled the car today, got all the welded parts back and put them together and on the car. I'm happy enough with the exhaust so I will proceed to add v bands and a nice wee flexi in it.
car runs a lot smoother with blow through MAF.
didn't get it onto boost need to make a few tweaks so the bov didn't open under boost.
all in all I'm pleased with it after such an intense swap.
