My nephew has been given first option to buy this sweet ride. He is asking me how much it is worth (read, how much should he offer) but I know nothing about the value of 1200s.
It is in very nice condition as you can see and garaged most its life.
Thoughts?

Mate that's a real tidy car. I don't have any idea what 1200's like that are worth in Aussie. But here if you that for 6-7k I think it would be a good buy.

If I was him I'd offer 5k but don't be disappointed if you get turned down. Negotiate from there that looks mint!

How much rust is unseen? Not saying the owner is hiding anything but I know full well as many others do the amount of unknown /unseen can be costly to remedy. Check under a pillars, scuttle vents, firewall behind. Strut towers, bottom of guard where it meets the sill bit. The list goes on.

I am sure that minter was listing on the tard about 2 years ago, the guy was asking around 10K for it originally from memory after trying his luck at nearer 14K earlier on. pretty sure it is genuine mint low miles one, and as cleans you would find (if it is the same one)
Here is another one that looks clean & original:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 556161.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There was a mint white one a couple of months back for around 8K too.
A light blue one was up north for around 7K in very clean original condition too
I think stock mint 1200 sedan's like these are worth around 7-10K depending on mileage, history, and colour schemes etc (ie I am not a fan personally of the mustard brown) The green one is particularly tidy, and would be near the top of that price range.
I think if you got it for 8K it would be a sound investment.
I mean you could pay 4-5K for solid honest sedan, then spend 4-5K again on light panel & respray.... and still not have the mint interior etc

It does look to be a good score.
I expect you'd have to pay quite a premium for a car that nice.
I personally wouldn't pay more than $6K for it. It is very nice, but standard datsun's don't command the silly money they perhaps should.
