240Z twin Hitachi SU's - rebuildable?

Post by Snoozin »

Evening all,

I've acquired a set of round top Hitachi's ex Mikey 240Z that I intend to whap onto the 260C in good time. Thing is, I'd like to rebuild first.

Now, on talking to various people I have come across all manner of negativity, however these have largely been Weber/Dellorto specialists and all conversations have culminated in them trying to sell me triples or a 32/36 DGV or similar. Which I don't want.

So.... rebuild parts. What's still available? And reliable distributors? Most accounts of using them on the L26 seem to think they'll work fine, if in decent nick.

Also - I need a new manifold to suit if anyone has one lying around. The water chamber beneath one carb has been hacked off haggardly to fit headers... I'd prefer to keep everything factory and tidy.

Cheers, Rich

I managed to get a set running good on my 280 after a re build. I made all my gaskets from gasket paper and ordered new needles and seats from these guys http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SFC01B" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they were good to deal with.

I found all the tuning guides to be rubbish the only way I could get them tuned right was with a fuel ratio meter and a O2 sensor.

If you have any questions feel free to ask not blow my own trumpet but I consider myself a bit of a pro now
