nissan gloria undersealing and general tidy up.

Post by frazbroon »

Her is my gloria in the garage. she had a run in with another motorist early this year so have it in to fix the ding and while am at it thought i would put some undersealant on and tidy up the engine bay.

Once i started i then decided to do a complete paint job aswell, haha then of course some new shocks / springs and shave off 30mm from ride height.

Here is the beginning of the front end work.

Ill keep you lot posted on my adventures.......

so finished inside engine bay put it back together and started first time....phew! glad didnt bust anything.

Now got her turned around and off with the doors and out with the sander.

goodbye rust spots !

Now the garage is covered in panels and parts all waiting to be stripped and sanded. then primer paint and colour.

I make it sound soo easy. heres to lots of elbow grease.

so far there has been a ton of degreaser , just normal spray can stuff from repco. That took care of most of the front end stuff.

Then 1 liter of PQR 40 rustconverter paint. this was roller and brushed on to the front end.

After that dried got out the matt black undersealant sound deadener this should leave me with a quiet , cruiser.

Now its on to sanding and sorting out the little rust spots all over the car.

Planning on doing a hand paint job, similar to rustoleum paint jobs that have been seeing around on the web lately.

Not having any rustoleum has lead me to ppg / white knight paints which are oil based, enamel.

lots of coats and lots of sanding . I have a test panel in progress the now to see what results the paint will give.

So far its nice and smooth with very little orange peel, it is matt finish so no shine as yet but looking into a buffer and compoubd
to finish it off. Will keep you all posted as to progress. Still lots to do before painting can happen so more investigations into paint type are ongoing.
This is what the end result should look like......

Man, I loved your car, paint colour especially, when I seen it one day parked on the side of a Wellington hill. I stopped and took photos of it. They are in the spotted thread on this forum.

You were probably the last person to see my car untainted by the moron that smashed into it right after you took that picture.
Hence , the reason why it is now in the garage getting all the work done.

Of course the said moron did stop to place the fender on the bonnet of my car before he/she took off leaving me no details to follow up with. I am sure some kind of terrible skin aliment will happen apon them in the near future, i would not wish it but it will happen!! As sure as the sun will rise it WILL happen!!

Am looking into colours at the moment going for something reasonably original. A pastel colour like mint green with black roof is where am at .

Nothing at this stage is certain....
