Are you using the rad from the white car as that was tested and painted by a1 radiators and was fine.
Have you changed temp sensor for the gauge as they pack up and also rad cap.

Yea i using that radiator, i had a feeling that was mentioned but couldn't remember, it does seem to be in good conditionbrocky41 wrote:Are you using the rad from the white car as that was tested and painted by a1 radiators and was fine.

Do you mean the temp sensor that bolts into the top of the thermostat housing?
Radiator cap seems in good condition and seals well, there is a extremely small leak in one of the pipes that wouldnt cause it though would it?

They shouldn't be too expensive to buy new.
I bloke who worked at E Parott and son at the time once told me that after a good cook up, you should replace the temp sensor and thermostat. They're not meant to cope with too much heat outside their normal operating range.
No-one ever does replace them tho.

Re: D1RTY6 's 1978 C331 Gloria SGL-E
UPDATES!!!
So today i pulled the fuel tank out and all the fuel lines out and cleaned everything (not that i could find anything wrong with anything....) chucked it all back together and it still wouldn't go right and kept dieing like before.
so in a fit of anger i jump on here and started looking at RBlovers thread for some inspiration, i randomly noticed his fuel line and return line were different to mine.... (his line from the pump was on the bottom, mine on the top) it had been like that since i put the engine in
so i switched them round
and what do you know its fixed!!! runs mint! still could do with a wee tune but you can chucked you foot to the floor and it goes!!!
as you can imagine i am pretty stoked! now just to figure out this heating up issue!
