Re: CRAIGS 510 1600
Was driving home from work tonight and thought f@#ck it I'm starting the car tonight so with a solid 2 hours I was ready to push the button.
I wound oil pressure into it and there pumps on webers and it fired like it was only started yesterday. She ran for about 2 mins and I gave it a few short revs and she died, my heart sank as I thought I felt a bang as it stopped so with a bit of diagnosing its fine and she has a crook coil so I'll fit a msd blaster ss to it tomorrow and kick it in the guts again.
Might take it to the local country air strip which is a km long over weekend for a run in session, can't wait to give it a hiding.

Re: CRAIGS 510 1600
Had the motor running sweet on the weekend and just bleed the whole brake system as it has a new master cylinder fitted. mapping for the track day on the 15th feb so I can run this motor in.
The car is off to a mate who is a sheet metal engineer on Wednesday and he will be making a new oil catch can, radiator overflow bottle, fuel filler housing to go in the boot, passengers side foot rest and a few small things so will keep ya posted

What brought the master cylinder change? , Rocking the same brake setup as you now (might chuck a new master in before the motor goes back in)hsepwr wrote:Had the motor running sweet on the weekend and just bleed the whole brake system as it has a new master cylinder fitted. mapping for the track day on the 15th feb so I can run this motor in.
Good news is the simmons appear to clear them although mine is slighty different to your setup as i spaced the disk back 5mm further rather than running the spacers..................The bolts the hold the wheels together are really close to mine but you should have slighty more room.

The old master was old and the brake lines were never really done right so I started again using proper bulkhead fittings etc where they go through the guards and firewall. Massive about the wheels fitting over brakes how close were they to hanging out the front guard? You won't be disappointed with the stopping power of the brakes especially on a 1600 when they were designed to stop a heavy skyline etcsr1600 wrote:What brought the master cylinder change? , Rocking the same brake setup as you now (might chuck a new master in before the motor goes back in)hsepwr wrote:Had the motor running sweet on the weekend and just bleed the whole brake system as it has a new master cylinder fitted. mapping for the track day on the 15th feb so I can run this motor in.

Standard master? or 7/8" one?hsepwr wrote:The old master was old and the brake lines were never really done right so I started again using proper bulkhead fittings etc where they go through the guards and firewall. Wont have trouble on the front with these However the rears i would be more interested to know as i never tried them on the back
Basically all the wheels work out about 15x6.5 + 40ish so including your spacer they should be fine , A pair of the outers are pretty average so id recommend getting two replacement outer lips. Originals are 2" wide so maybe some 3" ones, making the rear wheels 15x7.5 +30ish offset. Only question would they clear the rear arms with that offset.....................................
If youve got a 50-60mm wide straight edge/ruler/level or something stick it on the face of the hub up to the guard and if it fits inside the lip your in the money...............otherwise i have seen a oddball set of 16's ill sacrifice and make them into some tidy 16x7's and try to presuade chris swap them...............
Plan is to hang around till about 3 oclock

Re: CRAIGS 510 1600
I have had the car at a mates shed who is a sheet metal engineer. I am finally getting all the things done I have wanted done on the car for ages that I cant make myself due to lack of gear and welding skill. Sorry about all the photos but thought id share.
made a radiator overflow bottle as I wasn't happy with the plastic one. Used a 38mm speedflow weld on neck and cap with a -4 feed and -6 overflow out the bottom.
I also made a breather catch can with -10 weld ons from the r/cover and also block, My mate was spewing cause he made a wee muck up on the weld on the weld bungs but I think it is still 1000 times better than I could ever do.
After I took a few people for a ride around the track last time they all said the floor on the passengers side was hot so I thought id make a foot rest to fix that plus I think they look the business.
I also had trouble with fuel spilling out the side of the car even though it had a new fuel cap but I really dislike the moulded rubber filler tube that the 510s have has it has gone hard brittle and cracked and I have decided that's where the fuel smell is coming from so we are making a fuel filler for the boot.
still needs a 57mm tude welded to this for the silicon hose to join too
