Exhaust beecomb stuff??

Post by Tony_Whenua »

Hey, just pulled exhaust manifold off the daily Mazdacar because it had a nice crack in it and while its off is it worth removing this carbon filter thingy ?? or is it a legal W.O.F thing?

Was just going to attack it until its all clear of it...or is it just a waste of time?

catalytic converter ... yup I think so
I can remember as a young kid spending an hour or so removing this out of a V-tec civic exhaust system.
Just wondering if its worth doing or just the a waste of time

It's the cat converter, it won't make a difference unless it's blocked, if it's blocked you'd notice bad exhaust smell, loss of power and no flow out the exhaust pipe. If you bash it out... it can be taken to scrappy and is called biscuit. I got about $40 for a bag about the size of a lunch box from my maxima.

noticing that at about 2 k revs engine is struggling for a sec, but thought it was timing ... could this be issue or other things like more like the hole in manifold or timing?

Is that biscuit stuff a WOF issue though?

Not unless first registered in NZ after 2010 and evan then who would know. Should be able to get behind it and bash it out in one big piece rather than heaps of small bits.

Weather they are blocked or not they are a massive restriction on the exhaust flow
