Hi All
I have just brought a 1979 280zx today, I won't have it in the garage for a couple of weeks.
James (85_z31) will be giving me hand.
I look forward to posting here as the project goes.

I'm a sad to see it go but I know it's going to a good home. This is what it looked like in about 2002:

Clare wasn't feeling to flash last night So i will sneak in here an update for her.
So after some further inspection of the car we decided to lift up the cowl panel to see what was underneath, turns out it was a good call as the folder section that links the strut tower supports to the body was quite rusty, and underneath the cowl was starting to get a lot of surface rust. So we can now treat that and it should never have any issues again
As it stands I think Clare has caught everything just at the right time where its easily repairable and there is plenty of good steel to work with.
Does anybody have any free time to tidy up the removed Cowl panel ?
It needs a new lip that sits along the windscreen, it needs each side sectioned back in about 150mm from each edge and a small amount of hammer and dolly work. I am quite happy to provide all the patch templates.

bit of an update for the Wife
She got the Cowl off a while back and its sat around since we didn't have acess to a welder for a while. So we borrowed the old mans mig to get a crack onto some of these jobs.
This is my First attempt at a real rust repair and I'm pretty happy with it considering the welder wasn't performing very well in todays 30deg conditions
