Shipping Datsun from Aus to NZ - any advice?
Hi, I'm about to ship my beloved 1600 from Syd to Wellington. I have owned this car for 15 years and it has been fully restored. Excited to be bringing it to my new home. Has anyone any advice on the best method for shipping? I have quotes for both RORO and container (twice the price) and would love to hear if anyone has experience with either? many thx

Make sure it is clean, really clean. I work on the waterfront and if it gets pinged buy maf it will cost you heaps. So go through it, radiator fins, inside of wheels ,tyre tread, hub caps, external air vents, rear parcel shelf, boot lip around the hinges. bonnet hinges are some of the places lots of guys miss cleaning. Also give it a go over with some fly spray.
ROROs are a good option.
Also Under the spare wheel in the boot!!!!
Sweet looking car

there is a guy on the ( z club nz ) forum who is doing exactly what you are proposing, it would be worth checking out, I read it in the new members section of the forum.

I know an Australian company that may be able to assist with the freight forwarding and customs component if required.
My brothers mate imported 3 x 2 door 510's from the states, he cleaned them top to bottom to avoid the AVIS cleaning process, but they still stung him for it. Pretty sure NZ are pretty anal as well in regards to no foreign organisms etc, so keep it in mind regardless.

Thanks for all the tips, sounds like you can't get out of the MAF clean no matter what you do - are there different costs/levels depending on their estimation of what's needed? Guess it's possible for a spider to climb into the car on the docks in Sydney after it's left my dad's clean garage! So looks like RORO it is. Can't find that z club forum post, what topic was it under?
