Mikuni's are a greaat carb, but they're a bit of an orphan for parts in this part of the world.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

^ that's what I was thinking. Might go with webers for that reason.

I run Dellortos as the Factory 1200sss did, I am very happy with them, but hear the OER carbs flow better than Webers or Dellortos, and also I have heard Italian Webbers are good, Spanish are not.
This is not scientific but may give you some leads to investigate, particularly if you are looking for every last Hp.
All the best

You will be able to run a much more aggressive cam with Fixed venturi carbs, (as opposed to the SU ones) so more power, and much better sound :burnout:
1200sss are NZ only and ran Dellorto DLHA40s, (like Webbers) where as GX 1200s ran the SUs Dellortos gave much more power.

Probably a bit subjective re dellortos vs SU's, as the A12 engines were quite different between SSS & GX ie for one the GX had the big oval port performance head as well as differing camshaft & exhaust specs too

Off wiki:

SSS (NZ built up)
Performance
The SSS had 55 road horsepower, compared to about 40rhp for a good standard 1200, and an increase in engine bhp from 69 to about 90bhp. The motor develops the extra horses at the same rpm. And the mild camshaft offers a wide power range.
