Re: My first datsun
Really needs to be chemically stripped off, if your wanting to get it re-done. If you can't find anyone up your way. Send it down to me(it's what I do for a job) and I'll suss it.

Re: My first datsun
Decided to not sell my wheels and take the car off the road as there is a heap i want to do before it goes on so here are some progress pics...
Dash is getting there. Looks way better then before. Just got to get rid of the ugly calibre tachometer now and go for original or autometer.
Also been getting surface rust out of the vents to get ready to paint. Why do they have these stupid things if the only place you can get in the hole is through the vents. I will probably paint it the put rubber under the metal grille so no more water can get in there

Glad to see a bit of the Manawatu in your build too.
Kobyn lives ten minutes away, we see his black lines on the road every time we go that way.
Might meet you one day at a North Island Datsun gathering.

Ok finally decided im taking the datto off the road. Needs heaps of time to get it how i want so off it goes for the winter. Barely driven it but would rather get everything done slowly then rushing and going back to it later. So hello sanding, painting, cutting, welding and heaps of other stuff. Its not to long though. Just have to find the time and tools haha.
Re: My first datsun
Anyone have any autosport seats or seat they want to sell??
Re: My first datsun
Sold my front seats and have started to strip the paint and rust on the floors. Now just have to find a nice driver seat like a autosport one and thinking going original or something that looks old school for passenger. That will stop them complaining about the small seats haha
Re: My first datsun
some POR15 should sort the bare metal out. Is it alright to paint over first then POR15 or just use POR15??
Re: My first datsun
POR15 is a metal sealant and antirust applicant
instructions say over clean bare metal.
It has a process of cleaning and application using a line of there other products.
It is not as simple as plain application

"It's ok, we know what to do...we talked about this a lot on the internet."
Re: My first datsun
Ok will do some research on it. Is there any other better products out there like that??
