WTB: Datsun Fairlady Roadster

Post by IridiumLid »

Hi all,

First time post for me, and for good reason.

Im on the hunt for a Datsun roadster 64-67 any condition, preferably driveable. I know these things are relatively rare here in NZ so I thought I would help my search along by posting here.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, welcome.

I've seen 3 of them in NZ and know of 1 more, there's probably a few others around as well. You're probably best trying to find one in the States, the last one that was for sale on Trademe was a LHD fresh import from the US.

I had my eye on a project 1600 fairlady that Craig Gilbert bought in from the us a few years ago. He's a car dealer he in Timaru. Was sold for good money (was listed for 11k) to someone in Queenstown. Who then on sold for around 8k to someone up in the North Is.

More chance of getting a LHD and importing it or you will be in for a very long wait.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yeah, I was afraid of that, what would be the best bet for someone who has never imported a car from outside the country and has no prior knowledge of how to go about it.

Im sure there are plenty of folks on these forums or similar who could mentor me through the process. I'd be more than keen to go for it.
