So a few months ago my clutch starting playing up so first thing I did was check and replace the slave cylinder for about a week all was good then it started to get hard to get into gear so I did new fluids and eventually replaced the master cyl which fixed that but now the clutch is slipping it seems to be pre loaded as the slave wont fully compress is it time for a new clutch plate? Please help
Thanks
Clutch problems :(
Re: Clutch problems :(
You should have some free play at the fork with the clutch engaged (pedal up). Is it the factory clutch/gearbox setup for the car?
Re: Clutch problems :(
Into a 140j a 5 speed dog leg 63a#2 replaced the factory 4 speed but never had problems until recently
Re: Clutch problems :(
Sounds like it's either just a worn out clutch or possibly the height of the release bearing carrier, I'm not too clued up on L4 clutches though.

Re: Clutch problems :(

Re: Clutch problems :(
Clutch systems on Hazeldean Rd are pretty good and well priced.
Re: Clutch problems :(
Definitely sounds like a mismatch between the pressure plate and the thrust bearing collar. The 4 speed and 5 speed have different length collars too. I had a table showing which height pressure plate went with which collar, but can't find it now. This might help though

Oh really!? So 5speeds no go it was fine for over 6 months
Re: Clutch problems :(
Or can I just get thruat bearing to suit 5 speed?
