today was an epic day of failing to disk brake front end and lower ute.

i had everything sitting there ready to go......

1200 disk brake struts with pulsar callipers and u13 disks, new bearings etc
brake lines from a sunny
new coupe wheel cylinders to prevent braking bias for the rear
50mm lowering block and ubolts
etc etc

so, first i swapped out the struts and put on the brake lines, for some ungodly reason the work equips (01s-14x6 +12) are very flush from where the wheel backs to the hub and fouls ever so slightly on the 4 points connecting center to rim, luckily here i have some illegal 3mm slip on spacers.
1st issue sorta solved.

then i unbolted the rear, only to fit up the new brake shoes and find i got given coupe/sedan/wagon ones, 1200 ute is about 4-5mm longer for the lever hole to operate etc. so hopoefully bnt is open tomorrow and i can rectify that issue, wheel cylinder number 1 is in, but not number 2
2nd issue will be solved tomorrow

moved on to the lowering part, one side of my ute had a rather long locator pin so of course i had to drill out the block at the neighbors, then u had it sitting all pretty and ready to go, and the goddam ubolts arent long enough, they also are a bit thicker so would have had to drill out the lower plate anyway.
lets hope that bellamy and east are open tomorrow too.

it was one of those days.

but im trying.

oh, and the springs i used are way to soft, so il also have to take the current ones out and fit avenger rears. joy

chin up Luke. all those issues are easy enough to resolve.

you did the right thing getting all prepared with all the bits,
but typical to have a few teething issues with any of these
sorts of jobs. Its a learning experience! drum hubs are a little
different to discbrake hubs, hence your wheel interference.
OEM U-bolts are generally I think M10 thread, and most of
the aftermarket ones I have seen/used are M12, so you need
to slog out the holes a bit larger. on a 1200 sedan they have
a plain bottom plate, so you can use a plain bit of mild steel
custom cut & drilled, but the coupes & utes, need the lug on
the bottom plate for the shock obviously.
wheel cylinders are a bitch to fit in my experience.
Not surprised the ute have slightly different shoes than the
smaller rear end as the B110's. unsure if the drums themselves
are the same diameter or not.

Good luck with getting it sorted, I am sure someone on here
will pop round and give you a hand if you get stuck.

been a bit since i posted on this too...... since the last uploaded pic i have achieved the following....

fitted 60mm shortened munroe shocks
fitted (embarrasingly) cut springs
fitted 50mm blocks to the rear
fitted 14x7.5 +4 work equip 01s
fitted the cheapest stereo the warehouse had..... and its fucking fancy! bluetooth and remote etc!!

BRENDAN fitted nos fender mirrors and tuned it.....(important bits) and is building a new carb for it, and did an oil change, and timed it... etc etc

WAL cut and shut the front to get rid of guard rub and increase clearance everywhere frontwards

still to fit, another full set of a ratmat (sound deadener) and eventually a new carpet set.

will upload a new pic soon, just really need the front about 20mm lower to look the business.

Now that the weather is too shit for two wheels Luke, you need to get enough progress that you can enjoy your cars once in a while. Even after the weather warms up........
