I've been looking around for an older car (preferably auto, don't judge ) for a while and so far everything I have come across has been a rust bucket or too problematic BUT I just came across this Datsun 240c on Trade Me today and I love it. Scrolling through the forum here today I have also seen it listed in the Cars for Sale section too.
Only problem is I know next to nothing about what to look for when buying a car, especially an old one. I don't mind putting in a bit of work and learning from it but I won't be able to deal with anything too crazy and expensive/structural. I'd like to be able to drive it during the process too.

Any help would be appreciated!
edit: just found this oldskool post http://oldschool.co.nz/2011/forum/index ... of-plenty/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; looks like he's asking $3500
Potential new Datsun owner, help please!

That looks like a good buy as those models are getting very rare! I'm sure one of the gurus on here would be more than welcome to check it out with you. If you do end up getting it the Akaroa cruise on Labour weekend is a must!

If someone is free that would be great! Sadly my partners away this weekend, such bad timing as he has a few Datsuns of his own and would have been very useful. Though he's not too familiar with these models.
Looking forward to being part of the club!

Hey little bruise, welcome , I could have a look at it with you, as long as its not a massive road trip to view, im a bit of a rust repairer so know what to look for.
