Brock has a point.
Unless you're lucky enough to find one which has already been re-cored recently-ish (like Karl did for his cedric) then second hand can be another gamble.
In this day and age you can buy aftermarket aluminum radiators at a pretty decent price.
Cold engines grow old. The rest blow gaskets and burn oil.

Re: Laura's 240C
The Streetfire ignitions work well with points, it just uses them as a signal. I have one in my 260C, clocked up about 1000k's with it now with no trouble.

Re: Laura's 240C
Does anybody have an idea of why she's smokey when she's cold? It goes away once the engines warmed up. Big clouds of white smoke I hope it's nothing too serious. Occasionally does it when she's warm if I put my foot down hard.

Re: Laura's 240C
Give it an oil change and throw some decent 20w50 oil at it - ie Fuchs from BNT - its not expensive but would be a start as its probably just had some cheap stuff thrown at it.
Change the oil filter at the same time. If its still doing it you could throw an additive at it to try and help before going further - (ie rebuild another engine)

Re: Laura's 240C
I'd say it probably needs new valve stem seals.

Smokey on cold start sounds like valve stem seals.
They're a bit fiddly to do, but not too hard.
fake edit, Beaten.

Progress!
No ugly wires draping everywhere now, and the key actually turns off the car
