Re: Datsun SG 720 Diff Ratio
I think the very first of the Navaras ran an SD23, but I am unsure if they had 5 speed or not.
Generally 4 and 5 speed boxes come in series, so it will just be a matter of finding a 5 speed of the same series(size) in column change and swap the front, (Bell housing front half).

Re: Datsun SG 720 Diff Ratio
have you got 4 or 5 speed now?
also, long or short tail housing? ill find you some photos tomorrow of what to look for.
If you already have a 5 speed, then you will need to change the diff, or maybe find a gearset from a late 280zx with the 0.75 overdrive top gear.

Re: Datsun SG 720 Diff Ratio
My 85' 720 (L18 powered) was 5 speed and sat at approx 2500rpm at 100kph. not sure if that was due to the 5 speed or diff ratio but i suspect both. so possibly a diff from a king cab 5speed could be a better ratio? just an idea.
