How do I remove my front shock/strut from the hub on my 120y?
It looks like it just slots in there but I cannot get it out. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers

The hub comes off the stub axle, you just need to remove the main nut (under the small dust cap) and its will come off (may need a little tap).

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: how to remove shock/strut
remove the brake caliper (2 bolts), then pop the dust cap off (in between the wheel studs), undo the nut behind the dust cap, and then the hub and disc etc will slide off.
You cant remove the actuall strut itself, it is welded to the stub axle.

Re: how to remove shock/strut
Thanks guys this has helped a lot. I am just trying to replace my shocks. They are absolutely rooted. Does anyone know the best place to by new shocks from? Or a website that has a whole heap of datsun parts new. I have been using http://www.partzonline.Co.nz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. just wondering if there was any others out there?
Re: how to remove shock/strut
Ah right, you just need to undo the big flat nut at the top of the strut body (where the chrome shaft of the shock dissapers into the body).
BNT, repco, supercheap should all be able to get what you need.

Re: how to remove shock/strut
Stocks do shocks too.
you need to compress your spring to take the load off then remove the nut at the top of the chrome shaft. Then remove the top hat and the spring. Now you can remove the big nut. Careful this should have a heap of oil in it. But probably won't.
