I've finally become sick of looking at my non-running 120y and am wanting to get the engine running again. a few months ago i blew the module in the dizzy when i was trying to do a home job of wiring up a factory tacho. while swapping over the electronic ignition in the dizzy i dropped one of the tiny screws into it and out of frustration i pulled out the dizzy to get it out without noting down which way the rotor was facing. my mechanical skills are very minimal so after talking to people that have more of an idea, me and my flatmates tried getting the 1st piston to TDC then pointing the rotor just before striking the number one lead and then starting it. this got it running very terribly and would die if i took my foot off the gas. we played with the timing multiple times to try get it running better but to no success. unfortunately when buying the engine i wasnt able to get any info on the timing that its supposed to run or the exact grind on the cam but i am just wanting to get it as close to what it was so i can start it up every fortnight while its off the road. i was wondering if someone who is more mechanically minded might know how to fix this problem and would be willing to come and have a look when they have a spare hour or two? any help would be much appreciated

work out when cylinder one is on compression just before tdc, the arm of the dissy will be moving to a ignition point put the arm in so itll connect for this clylinder.

Around 8* is a safe baseline timing to set it to.
I tune my timing by pointing the car at a steep hill, and I keep cribbing it up until is starts to knock, and then tweak it back a whisker.
