What brand are the tyres you currently have fitted?
I'll see what technical data I can find for you.

Re: Mag and tyre replacement sizes ? What have others done
Chances are, unless he's running the Falkens, the manufacturer specs of the tyre will be the same as our LVVTA standards. I have a lot of technical data books so as long as he's got a decent brand of tyre (read; not cheap chinese crap) I'll be able to look at the spec. If the spec matches the fitment, I'll scan it as manufacturers spec will always override LVVTA standards.gingofthesouth wrote:I know this is compliance, not cert, but surely they follow similar rules. I don't know, just throwing this out there.
According to LVVTA,
195/50/15 are good for 5.0 - 7.0
Even 205 is too narrow for an 8 inch rim for cert.
http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infos ... _Guide.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It does, however, say "Additionally, where an LVV Certifier is presented with a wheel & tyre combination which is outside the scope of the tables in this info sheet, LVVTA requires that the guidelines of the tyre manufacturer in question are followed, and verification from the tyre manufacturer is provided..."
Sounds like a last resort and a lot of hassle....
Compliance with standard rims maybe?

Just did some digging, factory size was either 155SR13 or 6.00-12 depending on spec.
If this is the case, 205/50R15, 195/45R15 and 195/50R15 all fall within the 5% tolerance.
I'd consider looking into the 195/45R15 Falken ZE912's and printing this page and taking it with you.
These will also give you more clearance all round.

210s were on 12" rims I think and at the biggest 450s but yes 155sspiderwebfx wrote:Just did some digging, factory size was either 155SR13 or 6.00-12 depending on spec.

Standard are
155/80/12.
These then calculate out to be -4.03 out which still complies.
Current tires are Supercat 195/50/15 82V SPCFZ DT599404 (if that helps)
I would like the Falkens but they are slightly out of the price range at the moment and need to try and get the supercats through.
Thanks for you help guys, hope this information is useful

Cole

Shame your getting trouble with ya tires,
comes down to those that took the stretch tooo far, had a accident and now blanket bans with safety margins for all
I would certify on factory wheels then go back to those wheel/tires and use the exclusion for requirement to certify under 4.3 clause.
it only says suitable but doesnt define suitable how. The little fxgt I have is running that size and width package (no other mods) and it passes its wofs with ease

vr6 idea still siting there, much research in the plumbing before I commit.

Yeah, you going to have to certify on factory wheels or go for the Falkens. The Supercats are not specd in that size to a 8" wheel.
Re: Mag and tyre replacement sizes ? What have others done
I think its weird the smaller the side wall the wider the rim, the more agressive the stretch yet its easier to put on the taller profile with a less stretched look. prolly some science behind it, but i dont know what it is
