Hey guys I'm just wondering if its better to get my shell sand blasted first or have the rust repairs done first? Looking at some of the build threads here it is my understanding that sandblasting can strip some of the rust repairs out? On that same note does anyone recommend somewhere a fellow Datsun-ite can get some good sandblasting done?
Cheers

yes blast first !
blasting first will uncover all rust spots on the car and clean them out for you at the same time ! blasting first will give you a better idea of how much rust is it that area so you know how much of the panel you need to cut out ....
for body work IMO i would ...
strip the car right down all wiring, hard brake lines and fuel lines ect especially if your blasting the undercarriage of the car ! blasting can ruin these lines.
than blast the car and throw 2 coats of etch primer on and start your rust repairs

Re: Sandblasting/rust repairs
If you have the car blasted, it's absolutely imperitive that you have the steel painted with either etch primer, or epoxy primer as soon as practicable afterward. Sand blasting leaves nothing but bare steel. And raw steel will begin to corode from contact with the moisture in the atmosphere.
