Hi there guys am wanting to do up an old datsun b110 coupe was hoping that someone here might be able to give me some advice and point me in the right direction,
I am trying to find a b110 that has straight panels reg on hold and as much interior as possible (Seats engine gear box im not fust on and they aren't needed) the question i really have is how much should i realisticly be looking at paying for a car similar to my description?
Any further advice about working on b110s would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Tim

Re: Datsun B110 Project
Welcome aboard Tim, can I start by congratulating you on fine taste, the coupes are pretty cool. They are not too common today but do come up from time to time. For what you are describing I wouldn't expect any change out of 7-8K There have been a couple on here recently that have changed hands so take a look back through and see what they went for. 1200s are appreciating and the sooner you find one probably the better, but they can be hard to find in the condition you describe.
Can I point you in the direction of Kitch's build for inspiration and to Luke's thread for a dose of reality as I think he captures his experience very well .
Don't be put off, what is your plan?

Re: Datsun B110 Project
Thanks! I missed one for 3k in Ashburton and was gutted!
My plan (as it will be my Oh so awesome daily) is to change the drums to disk brakes, have a short end hilux rear diff (or something similar) put in, swap the engine for a 4-age + itb upgrade internals and fully rebuilt, put some comfortable modern seats (something simialr to the rx7 seats racey but still reclinable) new radio, full sounds, lightly tint rear quarter panel windows, full paint (gun metal grey) lower slightly (likely 1 inch) upgrade suspension if possible, upgrade the exhast to a 2 and half inch and sound suspresent through out to remove as much road noise as I can
I am aware this will disgust the datsun purest but as its a daily it's what I'd like to have and will be car I will be holding onto for as long as I can so it's going to be made with my requirements in mind, which in short is a old school beauty b110 looking stockish, sounding grunty, and driving as smooth as possible

yeah, im the guy with the silver coupe.
think of a number you want to spend, double it, and add a few zeros to it.
dont be put off like classicdat says, just mentally preparing you for the road ahead.
if you can find a road legal coupe/sedan/wagon if you really luck out (you wont see a 2 door sedan for anything shy of that in many a year to come) for under 10k then buy it.(go over it with a good magnet first)
you truly have no idea how much it will save you in the long run.
10k seems like heaps! but itl cost you triple to restore an average condition b110 to an okay level, p&p is easy, but try replace those badges that are no longer made, its things like that you should weigh up, interior etc. it all ticks up fast depending on how far you go.
not words of wisdom, words of experience
