1200 steering rack conversion ?

Looking to upgrade the steering in my rallycar to rack and pinon ,anyone done it ? What racks you using ?cheers

Hey man I'm looking into doing it on my orange car. The problem is finding a rack that will fit you'll need a steering column to and if the rack ends are the wrong length it will have lots of bump steer.

What about off a starlet or something small and jap like that?

The rack itself not including the rack ends needs to be the same width as the bottom arm pivot points where they bolt to the cross member.

Don't quote me but I think nick converted his racecar to rack and pinion using kp starlet stuff?

Yeah I modified the Kp crossmember to fit. It was wider track than the 1200 which was fine for me cause I had wider diff and flares. I think from memory a mini steering rack is prett bloody close to right size.

Thanks guys ,my mate in his drift 1200wag runs starlet rack n pinion ,il look into mini ones also Morris minor mayb?just seen a cheap one on TM

If you use mini you can buy new racks out of uk including quick racks for not bad money.

Thanks bro appreciate the help Iv got two rally sprints to end the season before I do some changes including moving engine back 5 inch or so
