Pretty much sorted now! New horn relay so that all works now, the fuse for the tail lights etc was blowing because an earth was touching something it shouldn't, the headlight issue was caused by the relay working intermittently he said he'd get high beam to work properly once out of 10 tries or something like that I have a spare one at home so going to try that first before we go putting something different in

He was also going to check for current drop as I mentioned the battery was going flat so hopefully my alternater is still all good...

Edit: Also the wiper motor was seized so he took all apart lubed it up etc and it goes! Apparently it's a bit noisy so may need replacing at some point or it might come right with use. So on track for the 20th!

Crazy to think this car is almost complete. I think you were just getting started last time I was in NZ (2008), and looks like you'll be completing it the same year i come back!

Thanks for sharing the details on the fixes to the issues, my old mans 1600 has a few wiring gremlins that need sorting and I think the relay and earth one might help his headlight issue.
