Agreed, I think it's brilliant in it's simplicity and design.

After a lot cursing and nearly giving up I managed to screw in the bundy tube clip in! Borrowed a flexible drill attachment but couldn't get enough pressure on it for it to grip :( so after trying to make a dint with my center punch, trying to drill a hole on a massive angle I managed to get a self tapping/self drilling screw to work!

Hopefully one is enough that is all he mentioned I needed anyway.

Got my steering lock stop bolt zinc plated and fitted that too!

Dropped gearbox x-member off to Wal for strengthening so should have that back soon!

This is the boot that was screwed to the trans tunnel which Ian wants me to replace

Knowing it was going to be damn near impossible to find an exact replacement, I trawled trade me and the Internet and managed to score a S13 Silvia boot off a facebook page got it cheap enough so I deemed worth the risk. Which was good because it paid off!!!

The only slight downside is that it didn't come with the metal ring that screws down over top of the rubber bits. A bit disappointed as I did ask if it came with it and I was assured it did but I didn't know it was coming with the bottom boot/gasket so it's not that bad I guess.

Already started marking out my own metal retainer ring out of some steel I have at home. This is as far as I got as there's going to be a lot of grinding and I had already had enough haha.

Great work mate you'll have in on the road soon the very guy seems very picky one guy down here is terrible. He wanted me to remove the engine and bring the bits I welded so he could X-ray them. At my cost. Needless to say I didn't take either of my cars to him the guy dad and I use now is very fair gotten to know him now he's a bit slow but we can't win them all aye. Great work keep it up.

Cheers Chris, he could've been pickier so I'm considering myself lucky! Dropped gearbox x-member off to Wal for strengthening and picked it up Saturday night. So stoked with how it turned out, test fitted it today and it's a perfect fit no modifying required! After taking the crossmember out I noticed that the cotton reel style exhaust mounts were coming apart as Wal pointed out to me they were not in compression which has caused them to come apart and really they are just a stud and a washer glued to a bush! So after some revised thinking I came up with the idea of using a cotton reel style sway bar link bush that has a crush tube going through it and a bolt going through to fasten it together. I didn't think I was able to use the new exhaust mount bushes because of the bracing going around the crossmember but the new mounts are a much smaller O.D so they still fit perfectly! Going to show Ian the photos first before painting and final fitment as I really don't want to take it out again if he doesn't like something!

Have nearly finished my ali shifter boot mount ring just need to enlarge the center hole a bit more to fit over the boot nicely

I would have my reservations about those mounts ability to isolate vibration from the driveline.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
