So I built a rotisserie so I can finish the last of the underseal scraping/painting and also to aid in routing fuel and brake pipes, placing fuel pumps, surge tank etc. I pretty much copied the one acustx built but with ball bearings for the pivots and threaded rod for the height adjustment.

Ran out of daylight so I couldn't tilt it today, but hopefully tomorrow I'll have this thing on its side. I still need to get some small bolts or shaft lock pins too so I can lock it in position.

Thanks for all the positive comments folks.

I thought I would spend a quick 15 minutes tipping the car fully on its side today. No. Like everything I do it turned out to be a lot harder than I first thought it would be. Couldn't find any shaft lock pins at Bunnings so I'll have to go to Cookes during the week and get some.

Tried to tilt the car in the "low" position on the rotisserie, that didn't really work because the centre of gravity of the car was all wrong. I had to really muscle it upwards and it was loading up one side waaay too much.

So I cranked it up another 200mm to get it centred and then it turned beautifully - (in the spirit of doing everything the hard way I had to use ball bearings for my rotisserie) Then it turned easily with one hand BUT only with the garage door closed! With the door open the end of the slam panel where the headlight bucket sits was colliding with the garage tilt door! I couldn't move the car back to clear it either, because the roof of the car had to be between the two main garage roof trusses to avoid hitting those.

I then had a brainwave and looked at where the roller door tracks were. By moving them up from the bottom hole on the strap to the 3rd one I was able to gain the 20mm clearance I needed.

Sure enough it worked and now I can juuuuuuust get the door closed when the car's on its side with about a bee's dick worth of clearance between the car and the garage door. I'm not joking!

Not much to report.

I bought the remaining bearings, seals and gaskets needed for my R200 CLSD rebuild - I already had new Nismo plates and pinion bearing. I also got the diff oil with friction modifier that we put into noisy BMW CLSD's at work.

It costs an insane amount of cash even for BMW prices but it's supposed to be the dogs bollocks. This thing should be good for all sorts of 50kmh rollbacks, foot on brake burnouts etc without any issues.

I'll be dropping all this off to James this weekend for him to do his thing.

Oh, and I've got the Maddat moustache bar now too. Got some Superpro bushes for the rear crossmember and a Datsport adjustable rear kit so I suppose I should get onto hacking the ears off my rear crossmember and getting that welded on.

Also I didn't tell James this, but I have a super-secret plan for the driveline that I'm going to see if he can help me with when I drop the diff off.... 8-)

Nice work on the rotisserie mate I made mine very similar to yours but no height adjustment yours has I think i'll be copying that :-) good to your car getting worked on I need to get my into gear soon.
