D2 headers clear the idler arm in a 1200.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Yeah yours is hung in the right spot I think?
I think your left side Xmember pedistal is unmolested. And the engine mount bracket is the right one.
I tried to modify some non D2 headers once to clear the idler, and it proved too hard. once one hit went away, another one presented itself.

picked up my coupe from wals place on saturday, he was modifying the headers to clear idler arm issue, told he swapped some pipework around and gained everything i needed, as well as fitting a clamp setup so i can split exhaust up when the ga eventually makes its way there in years to come.
Also wal either modified or made a new gbox xmember to suit.
changed the mounts for the front lip, and tapped a gaurd mount hole as it was fisted.

pics to come

SO...........Due to Ernie the piglet being an grunty asshole (and being way faster than me) whilst trying to discipline him i now have a lovely broken bit of foot. its 4 bones to 1 now, and hes the one whos ahead.
Its great in the sense that i have lots of spare time...........but very limiting on movement with crutches in a narrow garage with nice paintwork............and its very against the doctors orders till mid next week. also ebay and yahoo.jp are dangerous playgrounds when i have nobody policing my spending

Went to refit the gear shifter which was step 1 from about 30 to finish the interior....... and in one foul swoop i managed to bash my foot and drop the c clip pin bit somewhere on the ground. many cursewords not known to me before suddenly exploded out.
long story short, that stupid little clip is the 1 thing holding me up from fitting the rest of the interior and i simply cannot find it or get to where it lurks. one quick call to scott and iv ordered 5 of the cunts to future proof my clumsiness.

Dash is coming back out......AGAIN....... as paint is flaky on the steel frame and its starting to resplit as this dashpad is really stiff. lewis did warn me. so il swap everything out and use my spare refurbished one to remedy that issue.
looking into carpet panels so i can finish the boot and front kick panels and have them bolted up, i made the new panels for these about a year ago. actually i made two sets because of the luke factor and the risk of me loosing things so efficiently.
plated/Painted up front pulley and prettied up the fan ready to be installed along with the replated/painted 120y swaybar, and the kangaroo bag holder. bought a NOS accelerator cable so hopefully that works with the dellorto's.

Bought a black kangaroo bag out of japan as the blue has been discontinued for some time, some new wheel nuts from auckland to actually be able to attach some wheel in the next month.
Found a gx5 coupe in japan that i was trying to buy a bonnet and dash from but person selling wasnt having a bar of it which is inconvenient. looking at some more badging too but that may wait till the coupe can actually move under its own power.

friday i am going into an auto sparky store to get cable to run from the boot to the engine bay, and have pencilled in getting my rubbers fitted professionally for the first week of october. ish.

Brendan kindly popped over last friday and soldered up my USDM indicators and side blinkers, and engine bay is mostly wired thanks to him. wal is sorting me a brand new alternator and voltage regulator through people he knows.

Still no pictures, but i did go see the auto sparky place brendan put me onto, and spent up a wee bit.
Rang dan today to attempt to bribe him into the attaching of such things, and if im really good and dont fuck my foot il have the car ready to suit him.

Got a 35mm3????? cable which im told will suit me up to a high compression NA 2000cc build (future proofing for the GA) which should do the trick. i have been advised to run the second cable back to the front too by dan but due to acc paying me only 80% of my wages from the start of this week i may be limited. I can always do this at a later date when im a fully functional 100% earning human again.

On top of the cable i also purchased an isolater switch? that cuts power between battery and starter motor with a clever key setup. and a heap of clips so brendan can put my loom in the engine bay where he chooses. and so i can secure the beefy cable to wherever i run it.
I am very keen to run the cable through the drivers side sill and drill holes to suit if need be, (yes i did buy the appropriate .......hole penetration rubber compression fittings to go through metal holes) but failing that i will have it hug the right angle point where the floorpan meets the door attaching bit?. 5 years isnt enough to learn what the above a sill part is.

on that note. 5 years yesterday for ownership.

Foot had a hiding g over the weekend ignoring all doctors orders and got a bit tender.
Had to have a few days doing fuck all.

So today I got stuck into tidying the garage, which was a mammoth task, it was a state.
Funny how many items you find that you buy again due to loosing them.
I have no fewer than 5 1200 ute wiper setups. Idiot.
And a lot of spare trim for coupes. Like another two cars worth minus rear window seal corners.

Attached the centre console after a Fucking nightmare locating the holes for the screws, tedious at best.
Also attached the chrome aerial? I can't spell that.
Some new fuel flap rubber stops, and small other stuff.
Both my refurbished dashs have recracked due to stiffness and being 40yrs old. So that sucks. Il have to roll a cracked one until I can find a NOS one or something mint that I will scour the Internet for. For months il bet.

No pictures. Just imagine a coupe interior looking very Complete.

Hey Luke, great progress considering your disability, maybe IHC could give you some help.

Seriously though, there's a crowd in Tauranga that could redo your dash top . We got the 1600 dash

done by them and it turned out really great. Looks brand new. Not cheap but definitely worth the

money. They're called Dashboard Restorations and you can find them through their website.

Worth it to really finish off your great build.

Can't remember exact price but low six hundy springs to mind.

Chris and Bernie .
