And also got myself an early little Christmas present.
Indicator and stand.jpg
Got one small change to do on DJ's diff, one small change on Brokes Diff and then

I'm finally going to build my long searched out 3.7 Ratio and use my existing 2 way LSD. I got so much practice adding clutches to Johns diff im going to make mine a bit more aggressive also :burnout:

New Wheel bearings arrive Tomorrow Thanks to Datto610 so that might be a good evening Job for Weds/Thurs

Done a little bit of work on "Project Single Cam Revival"

Nice new wheel bearings thanks to Datto 610, always nice to see legit Jap bearings in the box

Made a gear knob which was my first go at machining heat treated cromoly steel, very pleased with the results. I spent more buying metric fine thread taps than a simialr gear knob but thats how it goes.

Yesterday i pulled the Dash out to mix up the jobs a wee bit, this is because i needed to do welding and it was too close to the dash foam to risk setting my car on fire and burning my garage down.

and Finally the dash has taken a whole container of meguiers wipes to get 30 years of dirt out of it but Im really happy how its looking.

Will there be much difference in available grip by going to the 50 profile? I would love to be schooled up on how profile effects grip (through rotation flex etc) or if in a road going tyre wall height won't make much if any difference in grip. Obvious tradeoffs are the side wall flex during cornering but would be interesting to know some real answers.

I don't have any specific knowledge on the subject but when i had 215 60 15's it drove and handled really good. Then i got the 215 55 16's on there with the 8" wide wheels and it felt firmer but the handling wasn't really changed as far as i could notice.

As far as what Chris Wildy said the 245 50 16 is almost the same height as the 215 55 16. but there is a lot more sidewall and potential flex going on there.

Its possibly a situation where on the limit somebody with more skills than i could say whats going on.

Its just a personal thing where, i always wanted a Z31 with big fat rear tires. I kind of think it suits the 80's car.

Also did sanding and rust work on the car today. Tomorrow more masking and etch primer , then onto sealer, primer filler and more lovely sanding. Its only a small area but it was very annoying with all the glue and paint and glass and rubber.

starting to get where i wanted to be about a week ago.

The sun was out i made the most of high temperature and low humidity.
base and clear coat.jpg
The new base & clear seems a lot darker than the old paint, initially i wanted a darker more metallic blue.
and quite by accident i have now my "hero car" color. I'm fairly certain if i buffed up the old clear it would shine up pretty good.

Doing this small area has removed a lot of mystery and black art to paint and cars for me, i have now decided that's its not witchcraft and it is possible. The whole car is getting painted this year anyway.
