Re: Josh's 1978 Datsun Sunny of earthy tones
Relative success today.
Getting the 4 bent studs out took hours! two-nut trick wouldnt work so ended up welding scrap steel to the thread and getting some leverage on them.
All sealed up with new Gasket (Thanks Brock),Studs (5 up high Brendan), some heatproof paint I had lying around, new nuts i also had in stock and pie-cut the exhaust half way down to gain some clearance with floor. It still exits before the diff, the rest gets tricky. 2in pipe and low = minimal room. And because Ill have a car-load for cruise ill flag it.
Discovered a leaking Wheel cylinder also.

Hi Josh. Where were you based when you owned this datsun. I now own this car and that JVC stereo with speakers are brilliant. It now has a worked A14 in it from when I bought it but is being rebuilt. Car is stripped down ready to be painted white and have bought black interior for it. Could post photos if anyone wants? Has little rust too which I'm wrapped about

Probably the best thing about this site is seeing cars come and go in various guises or turn up on trademe etc, it would be awesome if you could update some pics of where it is at now

Re: Josh's 1978 Datsun Sunny of earthy tones
I got it when I was in Alexandra, and moved to chch.. it came from invercargill prior to that.
Glad your making it your own, was a fun car. My favourite bit was the big (light blue) sway bar, made a massive difference.
Went through a few hands after me and bits disappeared or were swapped.
There was rust along the drivers side of the roof and maybe a bubble on the rear wheel arch?
It was a tidy one but got rear ended and soon after repair, Backed into in the left rear guard, and It sort of lost its charm after that.

Re: Josh's 1978 Datsun Sunny of earthy tones
Hi guys. Sorry slack on getting back on here. The sway bar has a made a huge difference. Handles really good. I had a panel beater look at it before stripping it down and had noticed that the rear end is in a odd shape but thanks to your daily updates I now have all the info I needed and what was done to it. panel beater had put a chisel along the top drivers roof guttering and found bog. Unfortunately I can't see your progress pictures as it says I have to update my acc or something which is a shame. I'll see if I can manage to attach the pictures of its current state now.
