R180 5.1 diff - how hard to come by?
Just pondering an idea in my head. But how hard is it to come by a good condition 5.1 R180 diff. Google reckons they came in front diffs of sd22 diesel 720s. Not sure if they came in anything else? Anyone have anything?

Imported a gear set back in the day, it went into a mates 510 "2 Door" Rally car. Sorry I have no idea where it ended up, but it is the only one I have ever heard of, I've never seen an SD22 powered(? not sure that is the appropriate word) front diff, L18's struggled enough with 4wd & 620s had Salsburys in the front I think.

I could be wrong, but wouldn't a front diff out of a 4WD be set up to turn in the wrong direction for a RWD application?

R series diffs were simply mounted up the other way in the front of 720s, thus rotating the axles in the opposite direction, so yes, but still the same.
Simple solution to an independent front end.
