DJZ's 280ZX
Re: DJZ's 280ZX
Nice work man
Re: DJZ's 280ZX
I'm not sure about the blanket, they usually fall apart but this one seems to be holding together, I actually only got it because it was a cert requirement for the car due to how close the turbo is to the bonnet. It made 361 at the wheels last time so if you factor in 20 odd percent drivetrain loss then it's still making around that now, if you can believe our dyno.brocky41 wrote:Looking good man. How much heat do those blankets keep in? What sort of power was it making with the old combo?
Are you upping the boost further - great numbers already.
I'll definitely be adding more boost, will do a bit more road tuning but I've just taken it around the track a couple of times and it's going really well apart from some break up around 3000 - 5000 rpm at lowish throttle. At full throttle it goes really, really well.

Around the track?
Re: DJZ's 280ZX
At work, that's where the car is at the moment.brocky41 wrote:Around the track?

Got it 95% back together yesterday, still need to finish the exhaust and wastegate piping and put the bonnet back on and get it to fit properly.

This sounds so good!
Re: DJZ's 280ZX
Some photos from the last couple of days.
In the big shed at work.
New flywheel on, this was the slightly lighter Japanese one.
Clutch back on - it actually feels slightly better now than it did on the old flywheel, not sure why.
Used the water jet cutter to cut out the bits to make the left hand side engine mount. I made the right hand one ages ago.
Engine back in the bay.
Up on the hoist to put the cooling system back together.
Outside after the first test drive.
