Also, I need to mention Mayfield Nissan workshop for being GC’s.
After getting axle fixed, I needed peace of mind that it wasn’t going to fall apart at 100km/hr.

I asked them to have a once over the whole car and report on any issues. When I collected car they informed me:
1. Park doesn’t engage from selector rod to transmission.
2. Back breaks balance way uneven.
3. Handbrake cable loose.
4. Front left bottom arm extremely loose and gave concern for how did car get WOF.

When I was about to thank them and head home to do repairs, they informed me that they have fixed all of the above and it was a pleasure to work on. NEK MINUT they informed me there was NO CHARGE!! No charge … you beauty!

They also informed me that some of the top and bottom ball joint boots are perished but due to having been well greased, they are perfectly fine as is. Suggested replacement at some stage.

Can you spot the difference?

The one on the bottom is from a Nissan Terrano/D21 with a missing dust boot.
The one on the top is from my H330 with the missing boot from the D21.

Now I’m on the hunt for the upper D21 dust boot…anyone have any around?

Have you tried suppliers, there are a lot available new from the likes of BNT

Na never tried BNT. Didn’t need to as I went to a wreckers and ended up getting some Toyota hiace boots that fit roughly enough for my liking.

I had a leaky seal in the axle after finally getting locking collar sorted. Pulled that out on Friday after a day at home without kids. Took for a WOF too and failed in a dent on chassis sill so off to a panel beater tomorrow to have it pulled straight.

Anyone modified their original radio with modern technology?

I love this car, will be good to see it on the road again.
No I haven't made the mods yet but have often thought I may fit an AUX plug and amp and run through the speakers to manage from my phone, I just have an amp and cable in the 240Z that I plug in to, works ok and is very discreet.

Went to buy front swaybar bushes $92 dolla bucks!! Feck. Doesnt include shipping … think ill look elsewhere.

On another note, had this beaut out this morning for a drive in the fine showery rain.

Bottom of the rear right corner sill had been all bent out of shape after making contact with something. I little bit of home learning panel beating and it’s kinda back in shape. Didn’t have tools to pull dent out but that’s way above me anyway. Sand, primer and can of Mitre10 paint. Not to bad.

Any suggestion on adding a leaf to springs? Going to try out the reverse eye springs again but want to stiffen them up a little.

Also tinted the windows a while back. 35% all round and pulled off the dark as rear tints. WOF guys all commented on it but still passed me … but figured might as well replace while doing others.

Stopped in to see Brocky on way home from chch and picked up a rear sway bar. Tried to fit this evening and discovered the wagons don’t have the mounting points. Yes on the diff but not the chassis. Oh well, I tried.

$1200 quote to rebuild diff. Unsure if it will even removed that Datsun diff noise.any thoughts on waste of money or money well spent?

I guess after finding a spray can that matched amazingly well for those hidden places. I wanted to have a go at tidying up under the doors. The paint job on this thing is pretty average so I wanted to have a go at cheaply tidying things up. Yes yes I know shit job = shit reward but why not (cough cough) one day when the kids are not dependant, I’ll do a full respray.

So I just had a go at tackling an old repair that someone still had exposed primer showing when you opened the door. I’m happy with it. Will put a clear coat on it when it’s not so cold.
