found this on docnz, so joined up and had a read through their ideas. seems to be pretty legit in what they are trying to achieve and i thought it probably couldnt hurt to keep an eye on preceedings and to see where this leads.

I run for cover whenever I read "Car enthusiast" and "Diesel" in the same sentence.

Re: southerncarculture.org
generally i do to, but from what i have read, they are trying to get funding to build a skid pad so it can be used for legal events. they wanna go the full hog with lights, crash walls etc.
will be one to watch i reckon

Well put! And very close to the truth, people have been trying to do this for as long as I can remember, and that's a long time agoSpeed_Freak wrote:Its just another one of these people that think theyre gona do something about it until they meet the council and they tell them to f**k off.... theres about 10 of these groups goin around now...

Its never going to happen, no council will be stupid enough to put their name too it. Something will go wrong (and it inevitably always does) and then it will come back to bite the council because they "didn't take all necessary precautions" to project the muppets who hurt themselves/others/fight etc.....

Hey peoples! Some of u may be right! We probly may F*** up but with the drift boys on the Committee we hopefully wont have as many issues? Kind of like learning from their mistakes?
The council is backing us! Both Selwyn and Christchurch. Actually Bob P isnt as much off an ass as he seems. He owns a v8 Mg that he likes to take for a "thrash" down the back roads with his friends so im sure he does understand that some of us would like a legal place to kick it!
Would like to hear how u think we may stuff up? Be good to plan ahead for these instances.
We arent just another throw away group thou i do know why u would think we are as i have heard so many times now that someone is doing this but after slowly getting through the paperwork and paying for this to get going i do understand why people have givin up.
So i do get that you guys are apprehensive but we really are getting somewhere! We are going to build this pad and we would really like groups like this to help support us????
Even if we do stuff up at least there will be a perminent pad in Chch for Drift people to use for drift skool! Thats gotta be a good thing!!!

Re: southerncarculture.org
I stand corrected then if you've got council support.
The people who will ruin it will be the people who like to get drunk start fights, break stuff and do skids in areas where they aren't meant to (eg: car park/surrounding road) and that will be the hardest part to control because how do you control it? The stupid thing is there will always be muppets who like to ruin it for the others by not following the rules.
I just think it will be hard to control the burnout stuff unless your planning on running regular burn comps which are a bit more organised than "lets go do skids at the burnout pad....."
The drift school idea will be cool though.
I am however happy to be proven wrong and am all for some where for people to do skids especially if its tied in with the drift school
