I know a guy in chch that runs a CA20DET....he has also used the modified 4g63 conrods.
his motor pulls over 400hp, and he isnt known for taking it easy lol
he has blown a couple of head gaskets on it I think.....but hasnt had any problems with the crank or rods

he uses ca20 block though, 4g63 rods are 150mm long so need a tall deck height to run them.
i'll run the ca18det block, its a bit stouter, comes with a crank girdle and oil squirters and with the shorter rod stroke ratio, due o shorter deck height and shorter rods it'll be a torque monster.

Any hybrid motor making 400hp is bound to break there weak links untill there sorted, especially when there driven excessively hard. Iv heard his tuning has always been a bit aggressive and has a lot of detonation causing most the problems... But then again that's what Iv heard from Mates of his and the one time Iv talked to him he seemed more interested in his Silvia than the Datto. Heres a interesting 20det setup http://datnet.org/topic/13620-sl33pes-n ... e-ca20det/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The time colin blew off a datsun cruise to go drag racing, A mate of mine who spoke to him told me he had a bearing fuck out.

interetsing I had suspected I'd have to do something with the oil pump and timing gear.
Has he had any power runs yet. Thats pretty cool it makes more power and torque than the old motor on 5 psi less, pretty much the whole reason I think its worth fucking around with the ca20 crank
I was having a look around today at pistons too and had come across zetec as well. also KL mazda 2.5 litre v6 pistons could be machined down to work with ca18 rods. i'd need to check both pistons first though as it depends on the top ring land as to how much could safely be machined off

I've got all the bits sitting here and its not really worth me selling them so i'll just leave them till a rainy day when i've got some money and a car to put it in.
