dont the a series gearboxes bolt to the e15's (as in dowels and all bolt holes bar one),but there's something to do with the starter motor that causes a problem??

Interesting idea, I have an e15et Pulsar and I can say the engine is by far(maybe the only) good part of it. The car is pretty flimsy and built quality is crap . In OZ they're called flexi-flyers and I can see why haha:) It has the same CAS system as most ECCS Nissans so you could adapt a later model ECU to suit. My dizzy seized a while ago and I replaced the internals with a '89 Ka24 and it works well, also used a T28 turbo but was quite laggy, the T2 is much better IMO .The Optical sensor stayed very similar thru 80's and 90's so should interface with a lot of ECus in theory. I notice as time went on the packs became more robust and used better plastics and enclosures, whereas the early FJ20, E15,ca18e's etc.. dizzys had quite exposed components and were prone to heat failure. The later GA,KA,SR internals are a good retro-fit, Not sure of the bellhousing match-up sorry, but can say the E15et is a great engine and it's surprisingly fast for a cheap ugly 80's hatchback my car has 260,000 K's now- the gearbox is pretty stuffed( as is the car) but the unrebuilt engine runs great at 9 Psi and has embarassed a few Subaru's and Toyotas in it's time :) Just be sure to listen to Durran Durran when you're driving and keep a piece of vinyl/cardboard in the back for breakdancing.

you funny c*#t,
I use to run 15psi out of the T2, last 6months usually before it spits the turbine down the exhaust.
Have given a GTiR pulsar a good go to, scared him when i was just behind his passenger door . :gun:
I love the sleepers the most, way more fun than buying a car off the lot, especially when you spend 1/3rd the price on the car, and it still beat's them. :burnout: hahahahah

dowel holes on an a series gearbox line up with the ga16 as do 3 of the bolts for the bellhousing and another to can be made to work. I ditched the dizzy and plated up the hole, and ran a stand alone mega squirt for my spark it has run but i decided to change a few things so it not going at the moment. There is a few more problems you may run in to tho
eg. i had to cut a bit of steel of my block to get my starter motor to fit.
. i had to custom make a flywheel as well. Started with a a15 fly and cut a bigger spigot in it and new holes for the fly . wheel bolts and shaved 4.7mm of the face of the fly so that my starter motor could still get full throw.
.sumps are normally the wrong way but its not had to change that.

it can be done just take ya time and get ready to scratch your head

Keen for a catch up and a beer once I finally get this wagon legal?

Sort of on topic:
I could be wrong here but I think the Z18 in my car has a factory T3. Yet the E15 has a T2, and the later Silvias run a T28 (same flange IIRC). How come Datsun/Nissan models use turbos with different flanges?

Garret are the ones who determine the flange in general with the exhaust housing. T28 and T3 use the T3 four bolt flange, and turbos are interchangeable (to an extent). The T2 and T25 uses the smaller T2 size flange and so need an adapter plate for the car it came off to fit a larger turbo.
Or do you mean differences between single and split pulse/twin scroll etc?
