On a video I watched yesterday, the Nissan representative stated that the Nissan V8 Supercar would be based on a
NEW sedan that is yet to be released and
WILL be running a Nissan engine.

I'm sure that the "shell" of whatever car they used has to be based on a production car. So i'm guessing Nissan is about to release a brand new chassis?
Anyway, I hope they end up using the VK56VD/DE engine.

The body panels will be production based, and of course a sedan. Bolted to the same chassis as everyone else in the series will run. Doesn't matter if the panels are off a FWD, 4WD, whatever drivetrain.
Engine apparently has to be limited to maintain "parity" between makes, so what this will entail I'm not sure.
