Ok so not an expert on 310 era stuff, but that looks like an Oval port to me.
Question, did all small port heads have the single top stud between the ports?

Barts right, I had to do the same with my a12 round port head. My a14 h75 head was an open combustion type head which also does't have the center stud. You'll be sweet to drill and tap for a stud, mine drilled into the hole for the head bolt.
