Offering it to them all sounds good. Much better than having to choose 1.

Sounds like a plan, and looks like the poll agrees.

I say we let all of them know about it.
If they don't want to know, their loss not ours.
Agreed.
Can someone take responsibility to get our events on their notice boards, to put us on people's radar. Articles can come from there.
Is there an anniversary this year? C110 or the like just to add a little interest to mags for an article. Will Tony's car be down this year? It could fit in both mags I reckon.
Nah scrap that looks like C110 was '72 and B110 was '70, looks like '71 was a lean year new models wise.
Maybe something was released into NZ that year.

I think it would be a good thing. The younger generation would get value from this as they will see history and cars that are actually on the road and not off getting flares, no springs and spitfires.
My peeve with these mags are they get things wrong so if some one who knew what they were talking about had a fair amount of input it would definately work.

I agree with most that although Classic car has some good stuff their demographic is clearly people aged 40+

NZPC demographic is 18-30ish surely. I don't often get a NZPC unless it has at least one primo oldschool car (likeMatts' black supercharged 1200 coupe) which it is worth $8 for.

They are only just starting to make a shift from evos and Hondas with chrome wheels to what is clearly the most popular at the moment - old school and JDM wheels.

What would be ultimate would be a Nostalgic car type magazine. Features on specific car models, stats, history, the more info about the actual model and less about the owners life the better. I don't know if it would survive though, would the reader base in NZ be big enough? 70's tin has always had a big following in Japan, now though its HUGE. NZ market/Oz market and US market are all following suit with steep price increases in recent years. It may just be a fad, like drifting which was massive a few years ago but has died off significantly.

As Kane says, most knowledge about specifics from cars come from true enthusiast owners, not the editor trying to be funny/quirky and telling all sorts of crap about the owner that no one cares about. Any magazine wanting to cover oldschool would have to be prepared to write colums 'by the people, for the people.'

^ problem with another mag is that interweb forums already know about most of the wicked builds and follow them to the end as opposed to an off the cuff magazine feature,if that makes sence..Also not enough for 3 magazines to vie for. I personally dont want our niche played out too much.

I really like NZCC, and found it funny that they ran a feature a year back on 'young people into old cars', and thought it was only a small demographic that had any interest in old shit.

I think for them to see 50+ Datsuns and older Nissans cleverly, well and tastefully built would surely stick out a mile from their pre-consieved idea of youths in 'jappers'.

Has someone been on to Classic Car?

I see they are running an article on the mighty Datsun 1600. Nice wee story from someone who was there, cleiched 'facts' but a good wee read.
Also features an article on cortinas, upto Mk 5 and an RX4 so could be getting interested.
I like Josh's comment and think I'm in favour of Classic car. I am in the over 40 brigade so guess this isn't a surprise, but if we are looking to increase exposure and grow interest this is probably going to be the most profitable long term.

Has anyone contacted any Magazine?

Hey Guys,

Falgs here the new editor at Juiced Magazine, sorry for getting onto this so late, I have only been made aware of the event this morning.
Being an 'almost' Datsun owner (i have a R31 Skyline wagon - lovingly called 'the mothership' :) ) i would love to see more and more of the older rides being featured, and talked about in the magazine. last issue we had a MKII Cortina as the cover, this month we have a '79 Corona and an RX-3 wagon, and a really mint Escort track car coming up. So it would be an honour to be able to have access to some of the cars from this forum as there are some really quality cars on here.
If you guys have had a chat about it at your committee meeting, feel free to give me a call on 021555964 or email me at Falgoon@juicedmag.co.nz look forward to hearing from you in regards to the meet.
