Seen this parked up down the road from home tonight.

Looks pretty nice, would be a good for someone wanting a 1200 sss without the price tag.

Will always be a nice example but wont ever be the same investment without the original plates/tags/numbers on the car.
Im all for reshelling a car if it means its saved from a certain death but it will never fetch the same money as one that has never been damaged/restored at some stage and thats just the way it is....

Who here has read the interview with Warren Broadbent/1200 SSS article in Winter 2011 edition of G-Force mag?

I heard someone mentioning earlier models or at least the car on the supplement/workshop manual for the SSS had a different livery. Maybe the ones which were raced were painted differently? I've seen 4 different styles of livery, the one on the benson and hedges car featured in the mag, the one in the supplement manual, another one in a brochure page which is pictured in the article, and just the plain black sills and bonnet like the one this guy has. I've also seen other versions out and about and in the 1200.com tech wiki, but they are less likely to be 'genuine' as a lot of the info on the sss in 1200.com wiki isn't really 100% proven.

As someone else said, the only way to tell for sure is to ask Warren or Dennis. And I've heard they are grumpy old men who don't like being bothered, which is unfortunate.

A mate of mine knows a local guy here in QLD who was an apprentice at Performance Developments who helped assemble a lot of the cars, but he is hard to contact too unfortunately.

I'm gathering parts for a 'replica' SSS myself. So far I've only got the coupe centre console, coupe tacho, a pair of DHLA40 DellOrto's and a 1600 SSS grille badge because I'm yet to find someone who knows for sure about what they had regarding the rest of the SSS features and I don't want to go buying a bunch of badges and stuff which aren't even the right ones.

I have seen the console with the coupe Tach in it and thought for a start they were wrong because the SSS I owned had a VDO Tach. These SSS's are very fickle and with parts supply as it was in NZ back in the early '70's the variations are understandable.

Yeah I got the console for free and the tach too just in case.
